Final Veredictum Une Misére - Sermon

Preparem-se para ler, porque eu estou entusiasmada com esta descoberta. Foi por um acaso do destino que dei com o tema "Sermon" desta banda islandesa, os Une Misère. Na sequência deste tema, fui à procura de mais músicas e encontrei outros trabalhos anteriores, do qual fiquei logo fã. O projecto anterior data de 2017, o "010717" e contam ainda com o single "Wounds" de 2018. 

Esta banda, que não se rotula assim tão facilmente, encontram-se na terra de ninguém ali no reino das sonoridades pesadas, roçando um "hardcore" mais negro,  dançando com um "doom", abordando o metal extremo e experimentando com inclusão de "samples" e sintetizadores em alguns temas. Une Misère tem um som muito próprio, não são comparáveis a ninguém, mas somente a eles mesmos. Criaram um sonoridade original e deles. O que é realmente a chave de ouro desta banda é a voz de Jón Már Ásbjörnsson, que nos transmite de forma brutal toda a raiva, fúria, frustração e amargura através do álbum. É tão bom encontrar vocalistas que têm a capacidade de imprimir sentimentos em nós através da voz. Uma autêntica besta no que diz respeita a rosnar e a destilar palavras e emoções.  Com isto, apesar de apreciar o álbum num todo e, que entretanto foi lançado no passado dia 1 de Novembro, pela mão da Nuclear Blast Records, e intitulado "Sermon", vou-vos falar dos três temas que captaram mais a minha atenção e falar das emoções que provocam.

"Sermon"

Este tema começa de uma forma lenta, mas depressa nos encontramos a abanar a cabeça ao som bem ritmado de guitarras com "riffs" intensos, um baixo mordaz e de uma bateria veloz e bem ritmada. Com um ritmo infernal e acompanhado dos "growls" de Jón, que realmente nos prega um sermão, mas óh, que belo sermão. O tema não é de todo linear, tendo variações no seu ritmo e de vez em quando acelera e a bateria toca impiedosamente. Ali a partir dos 3.11, aquele desespero e desolação na voz, e depois aquele coração que bate, que nos arrasta para essa escuridão. Tema bastante sombrio, pontuado por frustração e raiva. Transpira por toda a letra do tema uma profunda luta interna e um descontentamento com a sociedade em si. A mim levou-me numa espiral de negridão e de brutalidade e, com o rosnar das palavras "that burning hatred, let the fires burn", soou e senti-o como ferro em brasa na pele. Tema de arrepiar e de escutar várias vezes em "loop". Aproveitem para ouvir aqui em baixo.

"Damages"

Guitarras distorcidas, bateria poderosa com batida de estremecer, começa forte e pesado. Depois levamos uma tareia a sério com ritmos infernais. Caótico e bélico, uma luta feroz com o som e com emoções e nem sabemos onde estamos. Sensivelmente a meio do tema mudam e desafiam-nos para um novo ritmo e o mesmo desacelera e, enquanto Jón berra alto palavras viscerais e cheias de pura ira, somos levados a um profundo desespero conjuntamente com ele e quando rosna "put me out of my misery" sentimos toda a sua angústia. Ritmicamente é um tema cheio de altos e baixos, extremamente pujante, tanto instrumental como vocal. Letras muito profundas e demonstrativas da luta interna que todos nós temos com os nosso demónios. A par de "Fallen Eyes" o tema que mais me toca e com que me identifico plenamente. Aproveitem e escutem aqui em baixo. 

"Fallen Eyes"

Quem diria que, a meio do álbum, somos surpreendidos com um tema que começa de forma tão calma e melódica? Apesar do que o que aprendi a adorar nesta banda é a voz de besta do seu vocalista, a par da sonoridade única deles, fiquei agradavelmente surpreendida por o seu tom vocal limpo ser tão calmo, agradável e cativante ao ouvido, chegando a arrepiar a pele. Mas ei, isto é uma banda de sons agressivos e depressa se acaba o mimo e somos então nocauteados pela fúria com que as guitarras são tocadas e a bateria torna-se demolidora, acabando com a calmaria anterior e saltando para uma batida de "hardcore" daquele negro e agressivo.  Aqui a fúria e a raiva cantam alto e a voz mais que agressiva e bruta do seu vocalista ecoa na nossa mente e, inclusive, é acrescentado ao tema os mais que famosos "gang shouts" através de "backing vocals". Este tema é demolidor e prova a capacidade da banda de variar, dentro de um mesmo tema, todo o seu ritmo. O tema é dos meus favoritos claro, dada a sua dualidade de melódico e de agressivo. Certamente irá ser um dos temas mais escutados do álbum. Disponibilizado aqui em baixo, ouçam que não se arrependem.

Não me surpreende dar a esta banda uma plena pontuação de 5 em 5. Para álbum de estreia é um álbum sobejamente suficiente para que marquem o seu lugar nas sonoridades extremas e pesadas. Recheado de batidas explosivas e com diminuições abruptas de velocidade, tornando o som do baixo pesado, tendo riffs das guitarras imensamente distorcidos e poderosos e uma raiva infindável nos vocais infernais do vocalista. Lidam bem com a componente industrial, ao incluírem "samples" e sintetizadores (as famosas máquinas das sonoridades industriais). São banda que não adianta rotular e parece-me que continuarão essa linha, trazendo sempre algo novo em futuros trabalhos. Descrevo-os assim:

"Batida poderosa. Violentos e furiosos. Um cheiro de "groove", muito "hardcore" e do tipo negro. Algo de "doom" melancólico. Uma viagem através de emoções como a da auto-comiseração. Melancólico e bucólico. Raiva. Tristeza e ainda alguma loucura.  O sermão fopi entregue e de que forma! Brutal a sua mensagem."

Get ready to read, because I'm excited about this discovery. It was for some kind of fate that I heard the theme "Sermon" of this Icelandic band, Une Misère. Following this theme, I went looking for more songs and found other previous works, than I quickly became a fan. The earlier project from 2017 was intitled, "010717" and they had a single from 2018 named "Wounds".

This band, that can't be so easily labeled with a specific metal genre, finds itself in no man's land with heavy sounds, hints of black hardcore, doom and sometimes approaches extreme metal and also makes experimentations with samples and synthesizers on some themes. Une Misère has a very unique sound, it is not comparable to anyone, but only to themselves. They created an original sound.

What really is a vital key to the band is the voice of Jon Már Ásbjörnsson, who brutally transmits all the anger, fury, frustration and bitterness through the album. It's awesome to find singers who have the ability to imprint feelings on us through their voices. A real beast in delivering trough words raw emotions. With that, despite enjoying all the album, that was released on November 1st by Nuclear Blast Records and named "Sermon", I will write about the three songs that captured my attention the most and talk about the emotions they caused.

"SERMON"

This theme starts off slowly, but soon we find ourselves shaking our heads to the well-paced sound of intense riffed guitars, a powerfull bass and a fast, well-paced drums. With an infernal rhythm and accompanied by the "growls" of Jón, who really deliver us a violent sermon but oh, what a delightfull sermon. The theme has variations in its tempo and occasionally accelerates and the drums play mercilessly. From 3.11 forward that despair and desolation in his voice, and then that beating heart that drags us into darkness. A very dark theme, punctuated by frustration and anger. It show us that rages a deep internal struggle and a discontent with society itself. It took me in a spiral of darkness and brutality, and with the growls of the words "that burning hatred, let the fires burn", it sounded and felt like red-hot iron on my skin. A good creepy theme and to be listened in loop.

"DAMAGES"

Distorted guitars, powerful drumming with fast pace, starts strong and heavy. Then we take a serious beating with hellish rhythms. Chaotic and warlike, a fierce struggle with sounds and emotions and we don't even know "where we are". Midst theme and they change and challenge us to a new rhythm and it does slow down, and as Jón shouts loud visceral words filled with pure rage, we are driven into despair with him and when he roars "put me out of my misery" we feel all his anguish. Rhythmically it is a theme full of ups and downs, extremely powerful, both instrumental and vocal. Very deep and demonstrative are the lyrics with an analogy of the inner struggle we all have with our demons. Along with "Fallen Eyes" is the theme that speaks to me the most and with which I fully identify.

"FALLEN EYES"

Who would say that midway through the album we are surprised by a theme that begins so calmly and melodically? Despite that what I've learned to love about this band is the beast voice of their lead singer, along with their unique sound, I was pleasantly surprised that his clean vocal tone is so calm, pleasant and catchy to the ear, even giving me goose bumps. But hey, this is a band with aggressive sounds and soon the melodic sound is over and we are knocked out by the fury in which the guitars are played and the drums become demolishing, ending the previous peace and jumping to a "hardcore" beat, black and aggressive. Here, the fury and anger roar loudly and the singer's more aggressive and raw voice echoes in our mind and even the most famous "gang shouts" are added to the theme through "backing vocals". This theme is demolishing and proves the band's ability to vary  within the same theme, all its rhythm. The theme is one of my favorites of course, given its duality with the melodic and aggressive sound. 

"FINAL VEREDICTUM"

Not surprisingly, I give this band a full score of 5 IN 5. For a debut album it is a sufficient album to mark their place within the extreme and heavy sounds within the metal community. Packed with explosive beats and abrupt slowdowns, they make the bass sound heavy, have immensely distorted guitar riffs and an endless anger on the infernal vocals of the leader singer. They handle the industrial component well, including samples and synthesizers in the album. They are a band in wich is no use in label them in a specific metal genre and it seems to me that they will continue with this line of work, always bringing something new in the future. I describe them like this:

Pounding beat. Violent and angry. Hints of groove, lots of hardcore and that of the black type. Something of a doomed melancholy. A journey through emotions such as self-pity. Melancholic and bucolic. Rage. Anger. Sadness even some madness. The sermon was delivered and in what way! Oh what a Sermon! Brutal is their message.
